গত প্রাথমিক শিক্ষা সমাপনী পরীক্ষায় এ প্লাস পেয়েছিল গাজীপুরের টঙ্গীর এক
মেধাবী ছাত্রী। এর স্বীকৃতি হিসেবে স্থানীয় এমপি জাহিদ হাসান রাসেল তাকে
পুরস্কৃতও করেছিলেন। কিন্তু গত ৬ এপ্রিল থেকে ধর্মের নামে এক দুঃসহ
বর্বরতার শিকার হয় হিন্দু ধর্মাবলম্বী হতভাগ্য এই মেধাবী শিশুটি। ওই দিন
বিদ্যালয় থেকে ফেরার পথে অপহৃত হয় সে। পরে তাকে জোরপূর্বক ইসলামে
ধর্মান্তরিত করে কথিত বিয়ের নামে চক্রটির এক সদস্য তাকে আটকে রেখে ৫৫ দিন
ধরে ধর্ষণ করে। অবশেষে কক্সবাজারের চকরিয়া থেকে তাকে উদ্ধার করে পুলিশ।
গত শুক্রবার রাতে চকরিয়া উপজেলার কোনাখালী গ্রাম থেকে স্থানীয় পুলিশের সহায়তায় তাকে উদ্ধার করে টঙ্গী থানা পুলিশ। উদ্ধারের পর থানায় সাংবাদিকদের কাছে এই বর্বর কাহিনী শোনায় ছাত্রীটি। এ সময় টঙ্গী থানা পুলিশের সঙ্গে আসা ছাত্রীটির মা-বাবা উপস্থিত ছিলেন। তবে অপহরণকারীদের কাউকেই গ্রেপ্তার করতে পারেনি পুলিশ। পুলিশের ভাষ্য মতে, এই অপহরণ ঘটনায় জড়িত ছিল চকরিয়া ও মহেশখালী উপজেলার ছয় মাদক ব্যবসায়ীর একটি চক্র।
ছাত্রীটি শুক্রবার রাতে চকরিয়া থানায় কালের কণ্ঠকে জানায়, তার কাছে হিন্দু ধর্মই এখনো শ্রেষ্ঠ ধর্ম। অপহরণকারীরা কোনো কাগজে স্বাক্ষর না নিয়েই পাঞ্জাবি পরা এক মোল্লা ডেকে এনে কলেমা পড়িয়ে আয়েশা বেগম নাম দেয়। যদিও কলেমা কী জিনিস এর কিছুই বুঝতে পারেনি শিশুটি। তৎক্ষণাৎ তাকে অপহরণকারী দলের এক সদস্য মানিকের সঙ্গে পাতানো বিয়ে দেওয়া হয়। ছাত্রীটির অভিযোগ, ৬ এপ্রিল অপহরণের পর ৭ এপ্রিল থেকেই তাকে পর্যায়ক্রমে ধর্ষণ করেছে মানিক। এ ছাড়া অপহরণকারীদের আরো কয়েকজন তাকে ধর্ষণ করার চেষ্টা করে।
অপহৃত শিশুটির মা জানান, তাঁর ১১ বছর বয়সী শিশুকন্যাটি টঙ্গীর একটি প্রাথমিক বিদ্যালয় থেকে এ প্লাস পেয়ে পাস করার পর ষষ্ঠ শ্রেণীতে ভর্তি হয় একই এলাকায়। প্রাথমিক শিক্ষা সমাপনী পরীক্ষায় ভালো ফল করায় সমপ্রতি তার মেয়েকে পুরস্কৃতও করেন ওই এলাকার সংসদ সদস্য জাহিদ আহসান রাসেল।

This is a clear and unmistakable indication of, not the failure of the government - because governments are constituted by the heads and the policymakers of institutions - but of the governance and the administration. The police and the local government were inactive and couldn't carry out their duties (they took their salaries alright I presume). The central government probably sees it as just another 'unfortunate' case. Imagine this little girl to be your relative! How would you feel if your daughter or sister were abducted, converted to another religion and raped? How would you feel? Unethical and against-the-people politics in Bangladesh permeates into almost every sector of the governance. The society is pressed hard under the rampage of culprits and hooligans who get their financial and courageous support from the ruling government. No party is any exception.
A large number of people are beneficiaries of this entire corruption mayhem. The present report is only a spill-off of what's going on now. It's not only with religious minorities, or workers/ supporters in the opposition; mass people who don't have education, money and influence - are all being grilled by the tortures of the governance. This is a very unfortunate state of public governance.
